Bengaluru: Dissidence in the state’s Congress unit has exploded. A day after Pratapchandra Shetty was elected as the new chairman of the state Legislative Council, former CM Siddaramaiah cut his Malaysia trip short and returned to Bengaluru.
According to sources, Siddaramaiah wanted S R Patil to be the party’s candidate for the chairman’s post. “But the original Congressmen, led by D K Shivakumar and DCM G Parameshwar, plotted a new strategy and ensured that Shetty gets elected unopposed. This irked Siddu,” said one of his close associates from Mysuru.
“As per the original schedule, Siddaramaiah supposed to return on December 16 night. But, he returned last night itself,” he said.
