Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday informed the Karnataka High Court that it would seek clarification from the Supreme Court on going ahead with the investigation of a case registered against the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Though the Special Public Prosecutor for the SIT, who initially submitted the case diary before the court in a sealed cover to support the need for subjecting custodial interrogation of Kumaraswamy, later said it would seek clarification from the apex court in view of questions raised about registration of multiple FIRs against Kumaraswamy on same set of allegations.

Justice Rathnakala adjourned further hearing till July-end while continuing the interim order of restraining the SIT from arresting Kumaraswamy, but permitting it to interrogate him. The court ordered issue of notice to the SIT on a petition filed by Gagan Baderiya, son of senior IAS officer Gangaram Baderiya, seeking anticipatory bail in the same case.
