Akshat Shah, a 30-year-old software engineer working for a Bengaluru-based IT company, tragically died after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel in Surat, Gujarat. Police confirmed his death on the spot. Shah, who earned about Rs 50 lakh annually, resided in Veerbhadra Heights, Magdalla, and worked from home. His wife, a successful dentist, is now left to cope with the loss.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Vijaysinh Gurjar, reported that a suicide note was discovered, but it neither blamed anyone nor provided any clear reason for the death. However, police found multiple knife wounds on Shah’s body, prompting them to consider both suicide and murder possibilities. CCTV footage revealed Shah purchasing a knife from a shop and paying for it online before entering the hotel around 1 pm. He fell from the hotel window around 5 pm, with blood found in the bathroom, suggesting a possible injury before the fall.

Further investigations revealed that Shah had sent an email to his office prior to the incident, sharing his wife’s contact details and asking the company to inform her about his location at the hotel. Despite the company sending the email’s screenshot to his wife, she contacted the hotel too late, as he had already fallen. Police are continuing their probe to determine the exact cause of Shah’s death.
