Bengaluru: A 23-year-old man allegedly beat his stepfather to death after the latter reportedly attempted to attack his wife with a pair of scissors while allegedly under the influence of alcohol near Bengaluru.
The accused, identified as Uday Kumar, has been arrested in connection with the incident. His 53-year-old stepfather, Sridhar, was allegedly struck several times on the head with a wooden stick and a motorcycle shock absorber rod.
Dispute turns fatal
According to police, Sridhar and Deena, 42, had been married for nearly 22 years. Sridhar was originally from Tamil Nadu, while Deena hails from Uttar Pradesh.
The couple lived in a rented house on the outskirts of Bengaluru along with Uday and his two step-siblings.
Police said the incident occurred after Sridhar allegedly attempted to attack Deena with a pair of scissors while intoxicated. Uday reportedly intervened and allegedly assaulted his stepfather with the wooden stick and shock absorber rod.
Sridhar sustained severe injuries and died following the assault.
Police arrest accused
Police have arrested Uday Kumar and are investigating the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
Investigators are examining the statements of family members and other available evidence to establish the sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding Sridhar’s death.
