New Delhi/Bengaluru: A recent study has pointed out that deaths resulting out of Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD) has been on the rise in the country, especially in the South Indian states including Karnataka.
Around 16 percent of Karnataka’s population is struggling with heart attack, paralysis and CVD. However, the state can take relief from the fact that it is better placed when compared to its neighbouring states Kerala, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Nearly one-fifth of the population in these states is suffering from CVD. In Telangana, however, the percentage of population suffering from CVD happens to be much lower.
According to the research report published in “Plos Medicine Journal”, males accounted for the larger number of CVD cases in Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam, West Bengal and Pondicherry.
Two broader surveys conducted by the Harvard University in between 2012 and 2014 were used in the new study. This study provides a clear picture of the dangerous level of cardiac diseases.
The main reasons for the increase in cardiac diseases are obesity, stressful life, inactive lifestyle, eating processed and fried food, smoking and alcoholism.
