Bengaluru: Karnataka Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar is likely to resign today after the vote of confidence motion is moved by new Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

According to sources, the BJP is planning to move the no-confidence motion against Speaker Kumar after Yediyurappa proves his majority. “To avoid any such move, Ramesh Kumar is planning to submit his resignation,” said a Congress leader.

BJP sources stated that the party is planning to announce its new Speaker on Wednesday. “It will be Virajpet MLA K G Bopaiah. But the names of Rajajinagar MLA Suresh Kumar and Sirsi MLA Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri have also been floated,” he explained.
