Bengaluru: With the Supreme Court of India refusing to accept the case filed by the rebel MLAs a couple of days ago, challenging the floor test and whip which would possibly be exercised on them, the state coalition leaders took this as an opportunity to postpone the floor test meant to take place on Monday, July 22 by atleast two days.
In this regard, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy met Speaker Ramesh Kumar in his chamber, when the house proceedings were underway and requested him to postpone the confidence motion. Speaker Ramesh Kumar had not reacted anything in his chamber, but he did when he returned to his chair in the Assembly hall.
Addressing the legislators he said, “Already people have raised several questions on my conduct and also expressed their opinion against me. Hence, it will be wrong on my part to postpone the floor test.”
He then said to CM HDK, “I request you to move the confidence motion by 9 PM. If not, I will step down from my post.
Yet again, CM HDK went to speaker Ramesh Kumar’s chamber and requested for two more days, which was rejected outrightl
