Special voters’ registration campaign tomorrow

Bengaluru: The special voters’ registration campaign will be held in Bengaluru city on April 8 (tomorrow).

All booth officers, will be present from 10 am to 5 pm during the special drive, and will have the list of voters of respective booths. The voters can check whether they their name is on the list. Also, they can either add or remove names from the list, or make any other corrections.

For this purpose, they have to submit records and photograph. There will be an objection period of one week. In this duration, the booth-level officers confirm the location of the voter and add the name to the list, BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad explained.

Staff crunch:

Meanwhile, Manjunath Prasad said, “For the election, there is a need of 55,000 staff, but there are 43,000 members. To overcome the shortage of 12,000 people, it is requested to the Election Commission to allow us to use the service of ‘D’ group workers and Anganwadi workers. However, we have around 6,000 such workers”.

The Election Commission has designed “Suvidha” app for the political parties to get permission for public rallies, “Sugam” app to get permission for the vehicles. Moreover, “Samadhan” app will help the public to complain against the illegal flex, hoardings installation.

City Police Commissioner T Sunil Kumar informed that check posts have been installed at 20 places at the border of the Bengaluru Urban district. There will be one police interceptor for every 15 polling booths.
