Speeding truck kills young boy on his 12th birthday
A 12-year-old boy, Bhanu Teja, from Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, lost his life in a horrific accident near Hennur Bande, Bengaluru, on Saturday night—his birthday.
Teja, who was studying the Vedas in R T Nagar, had visited his cousin Chakradaran, 20, in Horamavu to celebrate the occasion. That night, Chakradaran, a temple priest, decided to drop Teja back at the temple, as he had early duties the next morning.
The accident occurred around 11:20 pm near Plama Heights. A canter truck rammed their motorcycle from behind, throwing both riders off. Tragically, Teja was crushed under the truck’s wheels and died instantly. Despite wearing a bicycle helmet, the impact was too severe to prevent the fatality.
The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle nearby. Investigations revealed the driver had just delivered cement bags and was heading home. Hennur traffic police have seized the truck and contacted the owner, urging him to ensure the driver surrenders.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the driver, as Teja’s family mourns the devastating loss of their young son on what was meant to be a day of joy.
