SSLC for Group D, written test for Group C state govt staff mandatory

Bengaluru: The state government in its circular has made SSLC qualification mandatory for the Group D staffs, while for Group C, a written test will be held instead of just an interview.

This has been brought into force after several amendments were made by the state government to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) norms.

According to the government sources, SSLC qualification for Group D staffs has been made mandatory because there was no board examination for class seven.

Coming to the Group C staff selection process, the government had observed several unethical and illegal interview practices. Hence, a written test for Group C staff selection has been made compulsory.

Regarding the probationary period, both Group C as well as Group D staff have to complete two years of probationary period, if they are transferred from one department to the other.

Earlier, if a staff had completed one year of probationary period in one department, it was sufficient to have completed one more year in the other. This rule has been removed.

The state government has also increased the time limit of clearing necessary tests and qualification process from one year to five years, during the probationary period.

On the other hand, if the candidate fails to clear the tests and qualification process within the period, he/she will be subjected to termination.
