Bengaluru witnessed the announcement of SSLC Exam 1 results on Friday, revealing that 62.3% of the nearly nine lakh students who took the exam in March-April 2025 passed. Though the overall pass percentage dropped from 73% in 2024, this year’s figures reflect performance without the benefit of grace marks.
Record-breaking performances stood out—22 students scored a perfect 625/625, including two from government schools. Impressively, 16 of the toppers are girls, showcasing strong academic performance among female students.
Among districts, Dakshina Kannada led the charts with a 91% pass rate, continuing its tradition of academic excellence. However, 144 schools, including six government institutions, reported zero pass rates, prompting concern from the education department.
Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa acknowledged the dip in results but explained that no grace marks were given this time. “The Chief Minister had instructed us to focus on genuine learning outcomes, not artificial boosts,” he said. He outlined key remedial actions taken—early syllabus completion, appointment of guest teachers, special evening classes, and district-level monitoring.
He added, “Despite the challenges, 75% of those who passed achieved first class or distinction, which is a strong indicator of quality learning.”
