State Cabinet okays Rs 27 cr for widening of Ballari Road

Bengaluru: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the Rs 27.52 crore revised estimate for the project, which was approved in 2008 with an initial estimate of Rs 17crore.

CLP recommends disciplinary action against Poojary, Vishwanath and Jaffer Sharief-1Briefing the media persons on the Cabinet decisions, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said that widening and upgradation of the stretch would be taken up without any further delay as the necessary land has already been acquired.

The project proposes to widen the Ballari Road (Hebbal Road) from the milestone 5.35 km to 7.33 km, which is from Windsor Manor Bridge opposite the BDA head office to Mekhri Circle, a stretch of 2 kms.

The project has been delayed due to legal battle over land acquisition, which includes the Bangalore Palace Grounds land, which has now been resolved and necessary land already acquired.

The cabinet also approved the Rs 861 cr proposal for drawing 40 million litres per day of secondary treated sewage water from Hebbal-Nagawara valley in Bengaluru city to fill 65 irrigation tanks in Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban and Chikkaballapur districts.

Six packages of upgradation and remodeling of storm water drains involving a total of 389 works in Vrishabhavati, Koramangala and Chellaghatta valley in Bengaluru city also received the cabinet nod. The project is estimated to cost Rs 671 crore.
