Bengaluru: State chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar broke common practice recently by taking only a day’s leave for his daughter’s wedding.
His elder daughter, Vishruti, an advocate, is marrying Gautam Kumar Raja, a start-up entrepreneur from Jayanagar on Sunday. The pathbreaker also decided to hold the celebration at an ordinary kalyana mantapa in Vyalikaval as opposed to conducting it in expensive halls, lawns of five star hotels or the Palace Grounds.
June 8 being the second Saturday of the month, is a government holiday and so Bhaskar took leave on Friday, giving three days leave to attend and participate in the joyous occasion.
Speaking to TOI, Bhaskar said that, being simple people, the family, including his daughter, wanted to have a simple wedding.
When he was asked why he did not go on an extended leave, Bhaskar said that his wife Rukmini had taken on the responsibility for the entire wedding while he was at work so there was no need for him to take leave.
Among the invitees for the wedding are Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara.
