Bengaluru: The official Rajyotsava event, which was supposed to be held on November 1 and was postponed for an indefinite period due to the by-election code of conduct is now likely to be held on November 25.
However, if the sources in the state Kannada and Culture department are to be believed, the list of Rajyotsava award winners is yet to be finalized.
According to the sources, the state government is not able to finalise the celebration date due to the confusion regarding the award winners list.
“As per the court direction, the number of award winners shall not cross 63. But around 150 names are ‘strongly’ recommended this time and none are willing to budge down. Fearing that the selection may disturb the coalition government, CM HDK is also not eager on holding the celebrations,” said an officer from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile, if the sources in the state Kannada and Culture department are to be believed, the department is planning to hold the event on November 25.
“The event will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra. The department wanted to hold the celebrations on November 15, but due to the Tipu Jayanti event on November 10, it was decided not to take any risk,” informed an officer.
