Bengaluru: Several parts of Karnataka are seeing some of the worst flooding in recent years. Thousands of people have already been affected and have had to be evacuated. There have also been reports of loss of life in some parts of the state.
To help in the relief efforts being carried out in the affected parts of the state, the government employees will be donating a day’s salary towards the same.
After a meeting with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, president of the Government Employees Association C S Shadakshari said, “As the state has been affected by floods, the state government employees have decided to donate a day’s salary towards the relief efforts in the state. The donation will amount to a total of around Rs 175 crores.”
“Some of the employees have decided to donate Rs 50,000 and some others, Rs 1 lakh. This way, we will be donating a sum of Rs 200 crores towards the flood relief operations,” he added.
