Bengaluru: The Congress MLAs from the city have decided to meet AICC Karnataka in-charge KC Venugopal in protest against the state government’s decision to reject the BBMP budget. They warned that if the state government did not reconsider its decision, it may create problems for the party in the upcoming BBMP election.
It can be recalled that on April 27, the state government rejected the BBMP budget 2019-20 and asked the BBMP to approve a new budget.
The BBMP had sent Rs.12,954 crores budget for the state government’s approval. Originally, the BBMP budget size was Rs.10,691 crores. It was revised to Rs.12,954 crores a few minutes before the approval by the BBMP council, but the state government wants the BBMP to limit its budget to Rs.9,000 crores.
According to the Congress sources, the Congress lawmakers who met recently raised strong objections against state government’s decision to reject the budget. They decided to approach the AICC leadership to ensure that the state government will accept the original budget proposals to ensure that the party will be in the winning position in the upcoming BBMP elections.
