Bengaluru: The State Legislature session will begin from today (Feb 5) and will continue till February 9.
Governor Vajubhai Vala would address the joint assemblies of the legislature at 11 am. Later, condolences will be offered to the dignitaries who died in this period and session will be adjourned to Tuesday. The government will answer the discussions on the final day.
As there are only three months for the election, there may be heated debate on Governer’s address. The ruling Congress would try to reflect its achievements and the opposition parties are all set to attack the government with objections.
Interestingly, Assembly Speaker K B Kolivada has clarified that if the government wants to table bills in the House in hurry it will not be entertained. “Enough time should be given for the discussion after tabling a bill. I will bring this to the attention of Legislative Sessions Advisory Committee,” he said. He was also unhappy with the poor participation of legislators in the session.
Meanwhile, the Governor has returned Karnataka Urban Development Authority (Amendment) Act, State Civil Services (Agriculture department and staff) Transfer Act.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will table the budget on February 16 at 12.30 pm. Discussion on the budget would continue till February 28.
