Bengaluru: Even Karnataka state government is contemplating to introduce the odd-even vehicle scheme, but after examining its success in Delhi.
Home Minister G Parameshwara has said that traffic and garbage have marred the image of the IT city at the global level and with this, introduction of even and odd vehicle scheme seems to be a relevant and effective solution for the traffic problem faced in the city.
“While the even-odd concept will be introduced based on the success of the same in Delhi, here in the state emphasis is being laid on popularising the public transport system.” he said adding that traffic issue has become a major deterrent for foreign investors who think that their employees have to spend lot of time on roads, travelling from one place to another.
Quoting the New York Times, G Parameshwar lamented that the newspaper had called the Garden city as ‘a city of garbage’.
