Bengaluru: Karnataka reported 204 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Thursday, June 11. This brings the state’s tally up to 6245 and death toll to 72.
Yadagir reported the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Thursday with 66 new cases. Udupi reported 22 new cases and Bengaluru urban registered 17 new infections.
Dakshina Kannada reported two cases on Thursday. One of them (a 45-year-old woman) is a contact of Patient 4186. The other (a 33-year-old man) is a Maharashtra returnee.
The fatalities were reported from Bengaluru Urban and Raichur.
Patient 6020, a 35-year-old man from the Bengaluru Urban district is the first fatality reported from the state. He was diagnosed with an influenza-like illness (ILI) and had a known case of chronic liver disease. He was admitted to a designated hospital on June 7 and died on June 10.
The second fatality, a 60-year-old man (Patient 6029) with ILI, was also reported from the Bengaluru Urban district. He had a known case of DM and IHD and was admitted to a designated hospital on June 9, the state health department’s news bulletin informed. He died on June 11.
Raichur reported the third death in the state. Patient 6207, a 28-year-old woman was diagnosed with a severe acute respiratory illness and had a history of inter-district travel to Bidar. She was admitted to a designated hospital on May 30 and died on June 8.
The break-up of the other cases are: Kalaburagi (16), Raichur (15), Bidar (14), Shivamogga (10), Davanagere (9), Kolar (6), Mysuru (5), Ramanagar (5), Vijayapura (4), Bagalkot (3), Uttara Kannada (3), Hassan (2), Dharwad (2), Bengaluru Rural (1), Chikkamagaluru (1), and Koppal (1).
There are a total of 3195 active COVID-19 cases in the state.
