State reports seven deaths, 271 new COVID-19 positive cases on June 12

Bengaluru: As many as 271 new COVID-19 positive cases and seven deaths were reported from Karnataka, on Friday, June 12. This takes the state’s tally to 6516 and the death toll to 79.

Ballari reported the highest number of COVID cases on Friday with 97 new infections.

The deaths were reported from Bengaluru Urban, Hassan, and Kalaburagi. Of the seven deaths, four were reported from the Bengaluru urban district. two from Kalaburagi and one from Hassan.

A 61-year-old woman with an influenza-like illness (ILI) from the Bengaluru Urban district is the first fatality reported from the state. She had a known case of HTN, DM and CLD. She was admitted to a designated hospital on June 6 and died today. A 65-year-old woman from the district diagnosed with a severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) is the second fatality from the district. She had complained of cough and breathlessness and had a known case of HTN and DM. She was admitted to a designated hospital on June 10 and died on June 11.

A 52-year-old man diagnosed with SARI, who complained of breathlessness, is the district’s third fatality. He was admitted to a designated hospital on June 10 and died on June 11. Patient 6394, a 49-year-old woman is the fourth fatality from the district. She was diagnosed with ILI and had complaints of fever and cough and had a known case of HTN. She was admitted hospital on June 10 and died on June 11.

Kalaburagi’s fatalities are a 53-year-old man (Patient 6323) and a 48-year-old man (Patient 6325). They were both diagnosed with SARI. Patient 6323 had a known case of DM and was admitted to a designated hospital on June 9. He died on June 10. Patient 6325 had a known case of HTN and CKD. He too was admitted on June 9 and died on June 10.

The fatality from Hassan is a 60-year-old man who was diagnosed with SARI. He had a known case of DM, COPD and CVA, the state health department’s bulletin informed. He was admitted on June 11 and died today.

The break-up of the other cases is as folows: Bengaluru Urban- 36, Udupi- 22, Kalaburagi- 20, Dharwad- 19, Dakshina Kannada- 17, Bidar- 10, Hassan- 9, Mysuru- 9, Tumakuru- 7, Shivamogga- 6, Raichur- 4, Uttara Kannada- 4, Chitradurga- 3, Ramanagar- 3, Mandya- 2, Belagavi- 1, Vijayapura- 1, and Kolar- 1.

As on June 12, there are 2995 active COVID-19 cases in the district and a total of 464 people were discharged today.
