State sees slight dip with 5,619 new COVID-19 cases; 100 dead

Bengaluru: Karnataka reported a record 5,619 new COVID-19 cases and 100 deaths on Wednesday, August 1. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 1,51,449 and death toll to 2,804.

Bengaluru Urban reported the highest cases in the day with 1,848 new infections and Ballari reported 631 new cases. Belagavi reported 293 new cases.

While a whopping 5,407 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease today, 633 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Mysuru (261), Davanagere (224), Dharawad (199), Kalaburagi (197), Udupi (173), Koppala (154), Dakshina Kannada (149), Bagalakote (149), Hassan (137), Chikkaballapura (129), Uttara Kannada (125), Mandya (123), Bengaluru Rural (110), Raichuru (91), Gadag (78), Yadagiri (76), Haveri (71), Vijayapura (66), Bidar (52), Kolar (49), Chikkamagaluru (48), Ramanagara (45), Chamarajanagara (38), Shivamogga (35), Tumukuru (31), Chitradurga (24), and Kodagu (13).

There are 73,958 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 74,679 have recovered and were discharged. Additionally, eight people have died of non-COVID causes.
