Bengaluru: Tipu Jayanti is one of the most contested days in the calendar. This year’s celebration is no different as the BJP leaders have opposed it and some right-wing cadres have warned of protests.
Responding to the opposition towards the celebrations to be held on November 10, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that those who do not want to participate in the Tipu Jayanti celebration can stay at home.
HDK, addressing the reporters at his home office, said that he had never opposed the celebration of Tipu Jayanti and claimed that the same was initiated by the BJP themselves. “Why are they opposing the celebrations now? The BJP only initiated the Tipu Jayanti celebrations,” he said.
He then cautioned that action would be taken against those who try to disturb law and order in the state on November 10.
Warning the people against damaging public and private property, he asked the people of the state to celebrate Tipu Jayanti in a meaningful manner.
