In the bustling metropolis of Bengaluru, a young couple’s new home stands out as a serene and stylish sanctuary, designed by Pune-based Staple Ink Studio’s Nidhi Agarwal and Rucha Joshi. “Covid has taught us how our homes are our sanctuary. Our whole idea for the design was to create a stylish and elegant home that exudes a sense of calm and welcome,” they explain.

The living room features a neutral palette for the walls, with a textured wall treatment behind an L-shaped grey couch. A coral-toned Terra Wall Sconce from Length Breadth Height adds a decorative touch. Natural materials and textures, such as low-profile pieces and clean lines, complement the pops of color and indoor plants.
The cosy dining corner is the highlight of the open living-dining space. A custom-made circular wooden dining table by Planks Furniture, Bengaluru, paired with lighting from Orange Tree, enhances the dining area. Powder-blue cabinets in the open kitchen, alongside a crisp white counter and a breakfast counter with high-rise chairs, create a sleek partition from the living area.
The harmonious mood and earthy tones flow throughout the home. One bedroom features a sage-toned wooden wardrobe contrasting with a black bed with a rattan bedrest. A rose-colored panel and a floral triptych from Studio Artemist behind the bed add artistic flair.
In the second bedroom, patterns take precedence over color. Tropical wallpaper and a dark wooden frame adorn one wall. The room is completed with a wooden bed, a full-sized mirror, and an indoor plant. The green-tiled bathroom with black and white fittings adds a youthful touch to the home’s neutral palette.
The designers emphasize the importance of the color palette in creating a sense of richness and maintaining a comfortable tension in each room. “With striking contrasting colors, this residence has a contemporary, timeless, and inviting charm,” they conclude.
