Bengaluru: The High Court on Tuesday has ordered a stay on the government order which announced Rs 10 lakh subsidy for 79 ‘qualitative’ movies following a complaint by petitioner, A?Nagappa.
On Tuesday, Justice Anand Byrareddy granted a stay on the government order dated December 7, 2015 and a notice has been served to Principal Secretary, Department of Kannada and Culture.
The petitioner had approached the court stating that his Kannada movie ‘Madarangi’ in 2013 had not been considered for subsidy. A song in the movie had received the Karnataka State annual film award for 2013-14 and contended that despite receiving an award, the movie had not been considered for the subsidy.
A division bench comprising Justices Anand Byrareddy and PS Dinesh Kumar delivered the notice and adjourned the hearing.
