Bengaluru: Sudheendra Rao, chairman of the State Pollution Control Board resigned to his post and the state government appointed IAS officer Vijay Kumar Gogi as the new chairman of the board.
Rao, a civil engineer by profession was appointed as the board chairman in December 2019, even as the board bylaws state clearly that only persons with environmental educational background shall become the chairman.
This angered activists who had moved to state High Court through a Public Interest Litigation.
It can be recalled that earlier, then Congress MLA K Sudhakar was also forced to resign for the KSPCB chairman post for the same reasons.
