Bengaluru: The health department officers have confirmed that the death toll in the Sulvadi Maramma temple food poisoning incident has reached 11.
“Three devotees died at various hospitals in Mysuru and 21 are still critical. The number may go further up,” said an officer.
“FSL teams from Bengaluru have rushed to Mysuru and the incident spot. DHOs from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Ramanagar have also rushed to Mysuru for coordination of treatment,” informed authorities.
According to the authorities, a total of 90 devotees are still under treatment.
Meanwhile, the Hanur police have intensified their investigation into the incident. If sources in the police to be believed, this incident may be the result of caste violence which is common along the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.
