Bengaluru: A day after Kannada tabloid “Hai Bangalore” editor Ravi Belagere was detained for plotting a murder, his second wife has reportedly gone missing.
According to reports, since December 8 evening, after Belagere was detained by the CCB sleuths for allegedly plotting the murder of a fellow journalist, his second wife Yashomathi’s house at Rajarajeshwarinagar is found locked. She has also switched off her phone and has not been using Facebook since last evening.
Reports claim that she must have been absconding fearing investigation in connection with Belagere’s “supari case.”
Meanwhile, CCB police have intensified interrogating Belagere. His daughter Chetana Belagere has also arrived at the CCB office. It is reported that the probe team is expected to investigate the farmhouse of Belagere in Joida in Uttara Kannada and also his coffee estate in Chikkamagaluru.
It may be recalled that on December 8, Ravi Belagere was arrested by the CCB police for allegedly hiring a gunman to murder a former employee. The matter was revealed by Tahir Hussain, a gun runner who was picked up on December 4. Tahir had mentioned about Shashidhar Mundewadi, another sharpshooter who takes “supari” (contract) for murder.
During the interrogation, the two admitted to have taken “supari” from Belagere to kill his former colleague Sunil Heggaravalli three months ago. Based on their testimony, Belagere was arrested. Heggaravalli, whom the killers couldn’t manage to shoot, earlier worked with Belagere in the same tabloid. Belagere had reportedly given Mundewadi a gun with four bullets and a long knife to “eliminate” his former colleague whom he called a “betrayer.”
