Bengaluru: Disqualified MLA, former minister Roshan Baig has appealed to the Muslims of the state to support the BJP in the by-election and thus strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Baig, who was denied party ticket in Shivajinagar campaigned for the BJP candidate on Monday and sought votes. In his speech, he observed that only BJP can protect the interests of the Mulsim community, which is still struggling to come out of poverty.
“We need to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become the world’s superpower,” he said.
According to the sources, Baig has asked his supporters including corporators to campaign for the BJP to ensure the victory of the party candidate.
By-election for Shivajinagar constituency was necessitated after the resignation of Baig to the MLA’s post. But instead of accepting his resignation the then speaker KR Ramesh Kumar disqualified him.
