Supreme Court orders CBI enquiry into M K Ganapathy case

Bengaluru: The Supreme Court on September 5, has directed CBI inquiry into the controversial death case of DySP M K Ganapathy.

M K Ganapathy, DySP at IG office in Mangaluru was found hanging at a guest house in Madikeri on 7 July 2016. Before taking the extreme step, he had named a minister and senior IPS officers as responsible for his death.

Following protests from various corners, the state government had submitted the case to CID. However, the CID gave a clean chit to all those who were named by the officer.

But Ganapathy’s father Kushalappa and brother Machaiah had approached the Supreme Court and demanded CBI enquiry into the case. The court which heard the petition on September 5 has ordered CBI enqiry into the case and submission of report in 3 months.
