‘Supreme’ relief for six Dandupalya gang members

New Delhi: The Apex Court has acquitted six members of the notorious Dandupalya Gang on Friday, in connection to murder cases that stood against them.

Gang members identified as Venkatrama, Doddahanuma, Hotte Krishna, Chikka Muniyappa, Krishna and Thimma have got respite from the SC.

The High Court of Karnataka had acquitted the gang member in 2014 on the basis of lack of evidence and the state government moved to the Apex Court challenging the same.

In what may come as a huge relief to the gang, even the Apex Court upheld the decision of the Karnatka High Court on the same grounds on Friday, December 4.

It may be recalled that in 2010 Tumakuru District Sessions Court had pronounced death penalty to the gang after a spree of brutal killings, rape and robberies executed by the gang members between 1996 to 2001 came to light.
