Bengaluru: When the alliance parties run a government with a slim majority, the Congress’ decision to field one more MLA for the Lok Sabha (LS) election has raised the eyebrows of the JDS leaders.
After Shyamanuru Shivashankarappa (Davanagere) and Eshwar Khandre (Bidar), the Congress has now nominated Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to contest in the LS elections from the Bengaluru North LS constituency. He will file his nomination papers today.
Presently, Gowda represents the Byatarayanapura Assembly constituency on the outskirts of Bengaluru city. He will be facing Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda come April 18.
Meanwhile, in another surprise decision, the BJP has nominated Ashwatta Narayana Gowda as its candidate from the Bengaluru Rural LS constituency. He will also file his nomination papers today.
