Bengaluru: The city police have confirmed that the suspicious object found at the city railway station is not an explosive.
Railway SP Bhimashankar Guled confirmed the same and said, “Though it looks like a grenade, it is not an explosive. We are investigating who brought it and what is the purpose behind this.”
“The experts informed that there was no explosive substance inside this object. It has holes around it, which prevents it from exploding,” he said.
According to sources, only two trains were delayed on Friday after this episode. “All other trains moved on time. Senior officials rushed to the spot and carried out an investigation. Now the question is, who brought this object inside the station,” said sources in the city police.
20 out of 71 CCTVs in working condition!
Believe it or not, in the Kranthikari Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station, 20 out of the 71 CCTVs installed for public safety are in working condition. This is an example of how poorly our public places are being managed.
As per data from the South Western Railway (SWR), 71 CCTVs have been installed in the KSR railway station, also known as city railway station, for public safety.
The daily footfall at this station is around two lakhs but surprisingly, a majority of the CCTVs are not functioning.
“This came to light when the city police and railway police started screening the CCTV footage to identify the miscreants who brought the suspicious object into the railway station. At that time, it was found that most of the CCTVs are not functioning properly. So now the police have decided to collect the CCTV footage from private properties around the railway station,” said cops involved in the investigation.
Meanwhile, SWR officials have clarified that they are installing 150 additional CCTV cameras to improve the safety and security around the railway station.
