Bengaluru: An anonymous call made to the police control room about a bomb being placed in a package in one of the city’s metro stations created enormous panic among the commuters on January 24.

The police control room received a call at around 9 pm last night informing them about a bomb where after the Siddapur police personnel alongwith experts from the bomb disposal unit immediately rushed to the spot and took the suspicious package into their possession. But it ultimately turned out to be a hoax.

It is gathered that the call was made by some miscreant only to inject fear and create panic among the people on the eve of Republic day. Thousands of people visiting the Lalbagh flower show were panic stricken and heaved a sigh of relief after they realised that it was a hoax bomb.
