Take action against ones spreading fake COVID info on social media: DCM to DK police

Mangaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan, Health Minister B Sriramulu and district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary have directed the district police to take stern action against those who spread false information regarding coronavirus status and thus cause fear among people, using social media.

The ministers held a video conferencing for over one hour with the officials of Dakshina Kannada district, on Tuesday and evaluated the COVID-19 situation in the district and also steps taken to tackle the same.

The DCM said that the government will extend all the help required including providing oxygen cylinders, testing kits, ambulances and ventilators.

Additional deputy commissioner Roopa, speaking in the video conference stated that over 204 oxygen cylinders, 13,500 Rapid Antigen kits, seven ambulances and 143 ventilators are available currently.

She further assured that there is no shortage of any facility as of now and that newly arrived ventilators will be installed in a couple of days.

She pointed out that lab facilities are available in Wenlock, KMC Attavar, K S Hegde and Yenepoya hospitals and that over 500 tests are being conducted on daily basis.

DCM Dr Ashwath Narayan said that there was a need to step up  tests to 1,000 per day.
