The Bengaluru police are intensifying their investigation into the suicide of a 34-year-old techie, Atul Subhash, who was found dead in his Munnekolal apartment on December 9. Atul, originally from Uttar Pradesh, left behind a message blaming his in-laws for his tragic death. Authorities have filed an FIR against four individuals, including his wife, her mother, brother, and another relative, on charges of abetment to suicide.
A four-member team of Bengaluru police, including one female officer, has traveled to Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, to investigate the case further. According to reports, two of the accused have reportedly fled their residence in Jaunpur, and police are tracking leads to locate them. Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts suggest the accused left their home late Wednesday night. Videos circulating online show one of the suspects walking down a street, allegedly avoiding questions from the media before later leaving on a motorbike.
Allegations of Harassment and Emotional Abuse
In his final video and note, Atul accused his wife, along with her family, of subjecting him to false legal cases, emotional abuse, and extortion demands amounting to ₹3 crore to settle marital disputes. These allegations have prompted a response from the legal representative of the accused, Vijay Mishra, who expressed shock at the incident. He mentioned an ongoing maintenance case filed by Atul’s wife but stated that the full truth would emerge after a thorough investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, the residence of the accused family in Jaunpur has become a media hotspot, with journalists camping outside. However, the family has refrained from commenting publicly on the situation.
Atul’s tragic death has sparked intense public interest and raised serious questions about the pressures faced in contentious marriages and the impact of prolonged emotional and legal abuse.
