Bengaluru, October 13: Metro trains on the Yellow Line faced delays for several hours on Sunday due to a technical glitch, affecting thousands of commuters on the RV Road–Bommasandra route.
The disruption lasted from 10:15 am to 1:58 pm, during which the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) claimed that trains continued to operate at 25-minute intervals. However, passengers reported longer waiting times.
“Frequency at the Hongasandra station was 33 minutes, totally contradicting BMRCL’s claims,” said commuter Ranjith Shetty, highlighting the inconvenience caused.
Currently, the BMRCL operates four trains on the 19.15-km Yellow Line with a 19-minute frequency during peak hours. Officials said that a fifth train, which is undergoing trial runs, is expected to be inducted within a week, which would reduce waiting time to 15 minutes and improve overall service reliability.
Passengers on Sunday expressed frustration over extended waiting periods, as the Yellow Line connects key residential and commercial hubs. The BMRCL assured that technical teams were promptly deployed to address the glitch and that services had returned to normal by the afternoon.
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check the BMRCL website or app for real-time updates until the fifth train is operational.
