A 19-year-old youth was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly uploading secretly recorded videos of women on Instagram, falsely portraying them as nightlife content. The accused, Dilavar Hussain MD, a delivery agent from Byrathi, Kothanur, originally from Manipur, ran the page under the handle ‘Dilbar Jaani-67’.
Police said the Ashok Nagar Police discovered the videos while monitoring online activity and filed a suo motu case, citing the content as obscene and invasive. The clips — primarily shot from behind — captured women walking on public streets such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Indiranagar, and Koramangala.
Investigations revealed Hussain had uploaded over 14 such videos in just three months, allegedly to gain followers. He was booked under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which deals with the transmission of obscene content online.
Sub-Inspector Nabi Saab of Ashok Nagar PS registered the official complaint. Authorities have requested Instagram to suspend the account and remove the objectionable content. Hussain has not yet been produced in court.
The incident echoes a similar arrest earlier this month, where 26-year-old Gurudeep Singh was held after complaints about a social media page showcasing non-consensual videos of women under the guise of depicting “street life.”
These cases highlight growing concerns over digital voyeurism and the exploitation of women’s images for social media clout, prompting demands for stricter enforcement and platform accountability.
