According to police reports, gold jewelry valued at ₹4.30 lakh and cash amounting to ₹72 thousand were recovered from the accused.

The victim, Alavelu, a resident of A. Narayanpur, had constructed four sheds on a vacant plot located 100 meters away from his residence, which he subsequently rented out. Selvaraj was residing in one of these sheds. Alavelu had taken precautions regarding the key’s whereabouts while renting out the property. However, Selvaraj managed to forge a fake key to gain unauthorized access.

The theft occurred while Alavelu was away at a temple in Tamil Nadu on May 7. Upon his return on May 9, he discovered the theft when he opened the cupboard on May 15. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Selvaraj, who worked as an auto driver, now faces charges related to the theft. The incident serves as a reminder for property owners to exercise caution when renting out their premises and to take necessary security measures to prevent such incidents.
