Bengaluru: Tension was witnessed at the Kempegowda International Airport on Friday, May 15, when Air India’s fifth evacuation flight to Karnataka that was ferrying 109 passengers landed here from San Francisco in the US.
During the screening of the passengers in the arrival zone of the airport, one passenger reportedly displayed COVID-19 symptoms as the temperature readings were being taken.
The individual was immediately separated from the rest of the passengers and was rushed in an ambulance to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases hospital for further tests.
According to The New Indian Express, sources said that the individual had a high fever, therefore prompting quick action.
As part of the government’s evacuation programme ‘Vande Bharat Mission’, Air India operated five flights to the southern state, including four to Bengaluru and one to Mangaluru on the west coast off the Arabian Sea.
