As schools reopen and families across Bengaluru prepare for a new academic year, one entrepreneur has found a unique way to ease a common parental burden — wrapping school textbooks.

M Afreen Rizba, a 35-year-old artist, baker and entrepreneur from Bannerghatta Road, has transformed the annual book-wrapping ritual into a successful home-based venture called Wasafi Inks.

From a simple favour to a thriving service

The idea took shape in 2021 when Afreen wrapped books for a family friend who appreciated the time and effort it saved.

“My friend told me how much stress it took away. That made me realise many parents could benefit from such a service,” Afreen said.

Since then, the business has steadily grown. This school season alone, Wasafi Inks wrapped more than 2,000 books for over 50 customers in just 20 days.

The venture recently gained further attention after one of Afreen’s Instagram reels showcasing the wrapping process attracted nearly 90,000 views.

Saving time for busy parents

A typical order includes 30 to 35 textbooks and takes about two to three hours to complete. However, Afreen often handles urgent requests as well.

She recalls completing the wrapping of 17 books in just 30 minutes for a student who needed them before school the following day.

The service charges between ₹300 and ₹700, depending on the number of books and materials used, with additional books charged separately.

A helping hand for modern families

Afreen says an increasing number of fathers and single parents are turning to the service for support.

Customers praise the convenience, attention to detail and time saved during the hectic school reopening period.

For many busy families, what was once a time-consuming task has become a simple solution delivered right to their doorstep — proving that even the smallest everyday challenges can inspire a successful business idea.
