Those challenging credibility of EVMs must prove it: K’taka EC

Bengaluru: State election commissioner Sanjeev Kumar has challenged that the commission is ready for any tests on the credibility of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Several questions are raised at the credibility of these machines and recent reports have been claiming that in several states the EVMs were devised to help the BJP. In this connection, the Election Commissioner has said that tampering of EVMs is not possible and that ones who are challenging the same may come forth and prove their allegations.

“Previously we had challenged the interested parties to come and prove the allegation that EVMs are being misused. It is impossible to misuse the EVMs. Some had come forward and collected the technical specifications of the EVMs. Before 2018 state assembly election, we will hold a trial in front of the media,” he said calling upon everyone interested to participate in this demonstration.

Sanjeev A total of 72 lakh new voters’ names have been added to the list. In the year 2013, the total electoral size of the state was 4.18 crores and the same has zoomed to 4.90 crores.

“We will announce the final list on February 15, 2018,” he said.

“Presently there are 56,685 voting booths in the state. It will be increased by 2,433 in the 2018 state assembly election. In Bengaluru voting booth numbers will be increased by 574 ,” he said.
