Three Bills tabled in Assembly

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Revenue (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017 was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Monday to regularise houses built on 30×40 ft dimension.

Amendment to section 94CC of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 allows for regularisation of sites located within a distance 18 km from the limits of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, 10 km from Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, and Mysuru City Corporations, and 5 km, 10 km and 3 km, respectively, from all city municipalities and town municipal councils and town panchayats.

The Institute of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (IHST) (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was also tabled. This is to make certain provisions to improve the functionality and efficiency of the IHST as a university. The IHST is located in Yelahanaka in north Bengaluru.

The Karnataka Samskrita Vishwavidyalaya (Amendment) Bill was tabled to increase the upper age limit to hold the office of the Vice-Chancellor to 67 years, which is in conformity with the age limit of the vice-chancellors in the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000.
