Bengaluru: The Cubbon Park police have nabbed three persons, including the cash custodian of a private bank, on Tuesday on the charge of committing a series of thefts from ATMs in Mumbai.

The police have identified the arrested persons as Rakesh Pawan, 24, Nayan Vijay Bhanushali, 24, and Jyothi Chadilal Gupte, 22.

The police said Rakesh works as a cash custodian. He had managed to get the keys and passwords of ATMs in Mumbai where security guards had not been posted.

The trio allegedly stole Rs. 34 lakh from three ATMs. With the stolen money, the trio travelled across India, visiting Delhi, Kulu Manali, Amritsar, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa and Pune before checking into a star hotel on Lavelle Road on June 23. In the three months since the robbery, the trio had spent more than Rs. 30 lakh. The Bengaluru police were tipped off about three persons spending lavishly on liquor, gold, expensive mobile phones, and hired cars. The three were picked up. When questioned, they confessed to the crime.
