Bengaluru: The Officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau on Wednesday arrested three people and seized 60 kg marijuana, worth Rs. 30 lakh, from them. The accused were arrested as soon as they landed in the city by a train with the contraband in their backpacks.
The police have identified the accused as Narayanaswamy, 55, Srinivasa, 28, and Ramanamma, 35. All of them hail from Ananthapuram in Andhra Pradesh. The police said the accused were supposed to go to Hoskote to sell the contraband.
According to the officials, they had concealed the marijuana in polythene sheet stitched inside the backpack. Based on a tip-off, the officials zeroed in on them when they arrived in the city and confiscated theirs bags before frisking them.
They reportedly confessed to have purchased marijuana from their contact in Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh.
