Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police have arrested three people and seized around Rs 5 crore of banned Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes from them.
Based on a tip-off, the police nabbed them near Mahalskhm Layout Swimming Pool. The police have identified the accused as Ashima, 50, a resident of Jayanagar, Kalingappa, 35, a resident of Ballari, and Manjunath, 58, from Nelagedranhalli near Peenya.
The police said the three accused were waiting near the Mahalakshmi Layout Swimming Pool to meet a contact to exchange the banned currency notes with new ones. The police team approached the three accused in plain clothes and arrested them. The police seized a car belonging to the accused.
