Bengaluru: Two people on a motorcycle died when they were mowed down by a car driven by a PU student near Jakkur on Thursday.
The police have identified the deceased as Murugan (48), a carpenter, and Venkatesh (50), a tailor. The police said that Murugan and Mohan were heading towards the airport for work when Irfan Ali Hussain (19), a PU student of a private college in Hebbal, knocked them down while on his way to college.
The police said that Irfan tried to flee the scene but passersby caught him and handed him over to the police.
In another incident, a pedestrian who was crossing the road was fatally knocked down by a taxi at Kempapura junction near Hebbal.
The police have identified the deceased as Vijayaraghava Reddy (35), a native of Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh, who worked as a cab driver.
The Hebbal traffic police have arrested the taxi driver Hanumantha.
