Tiger kills a farmer in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar

Bengaluru: The human-wildlife conflict continued in the green-rich Chamarajanagar district as a man-eater tiger killed a farmer causing tension in the district, on Sunday.
The incident has been reported from the Choudahali village of the Gundlupet taluk. The deceased farmer has been identified as Shivamadaiah (55).

According to the villagers, the incident happened on Saturday late evening when Shivamadaiah was grazing his cattle. The incident came to light when he didn’t return home even though the cattle returned in the night.

Villagers who grew suspicious started a search for him on Sunday morning. At that time they found his body inside the local forest. The tiger ate a few parts of the body of the victim Shivamadaiah.

Senior forest department authorities rushed to the spot. The villagers are demanding Rs. 10 lakh compensation for the family of the deceased farmer.
