Bengaluru: Minister for Culture CT Ravi has opined that the time is ‘ripe’ to introduce the Uniform Civil Code in the country.

Addressing a news conference, he said, “everyone is speaking about equality. There is no better time than this to introduce UCC.”

Those who wanted inequality are now talking about equality, he said attacking the anti-CAA protesters.

“The ones who believed that patriosm was wrong too are now chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. They are also holding the national flag and protesting. This is the right time to bring in Uniform Civil Code,” he opined.

Responding to a query on whether there have been discussed UCC at the party forums, the minister said that the UCC has been part of party’s agenda since the party’s inception in 1980.

He said, “it continued to remain part of BJP’s agenda in 2014 and 2019 (Lok Sabha poll). We are not under fear. WE had promised scrapping of Article 370 and we have done it. Ram Mandir issue has been sorted out. We have been doing right thing at the right time.”
