Contract and Production Details:

The contract between BMRCL and China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Nanjing Puzhen Co., signed in December 2019, faced challenges resulting in delays. To mitigate these delays, CRRC and TRSL entered into an MoU, allowing TRSL to produce 34 out of 36 required trainsets locally at its Uttarpara facility in West Bengal. Only two trainsets, consisting of 12 coaches, will be manufactured in China.

Manufacturing Capabilities:

TRSL has set up a dedicated stainless steel production line to meet the project’s specific requirements. Production has commenced, and the first trainset is scheduled for delivery by August 2024.

Corporate Background:

Formerly known as Titagarh Wagons, TRSL is India’s largest manufacturer of freight rolling stock, with its Bharatpur facility specializing in wagon production. The company is expanding into passenger rail systems and is collaborating with ABB India for the development of driverless metro trains.
