Bengaluru: A two-year-old girl sustained serious head injuries after falling from the Srirampura Metro escalator in the city on Sunday night at 9 PM. She died on Monday morning at 9 AM after battling for life at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health.
According to sources, the child has been identified as Hasina.
“No police case has been registered till now,” informed the Subramanyanagar police.
Reportedly, the grandmother of the child was taking her on the escalator. While the escalator started moving, the baby slipped out of her hand, fell on the floor and rolled onto the road. “Security guards picked the child and alerted the 108 ambulance service. Initially, the child was rushed to the K C General hospital. From there she was moved to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health,” informed police sources.
“Even before the arrival of the police, the toddler was sent to the hospital. We will visit the hospital today and verify the news. We will also check the CCTV footage,” added police.
“The grandmother and parents of the toddler have not yet been identified. They are residents of Srirampura,” the police said.
